“Snow Falling on Cedars” by David Guterson is the name of an interesting book. The title of the book comes from a heavy snowstorm that causes a delay in Kabuo's trial and burdens the islanders. The fictional island of San Piedro is heavily forested with cedar trees. In the midst of the cedar forests, a fallen cedar tree was a special place between Hatsue and Ishmael when both were children. And other exciting events happen in the book. It has also a lot of interesting characters.

My favorite character is Ishmael. Ishmael Chamber of San Piedro. He has one hand because he lost his hand in the war. He feels bad because of his lack of trust. However has a good relationship with Hatsue. He met her when he was 14 years old.

You gave a great introduction to the novel; I think everyone will want to read the book now. Can you tell me more about Ishmael? He sounds sad, but I'm not exactly sure why he is so unhappy and can't trust people.
